Real Fishy Guide Service operates fishing charters in Oswego, Pulaski, and the Salmon River in New York, as well as boat trips on Lake Ontario. Whether you’re looking for a guided river fishing trip or a Lake Ontario charter, we’ll take you to the best spots for salmon, steelhead, and brown trout.
What types of fish can I catch on your trips?
Depending on the season, you can target steelhead, king salmon, coho salmon, and brown trout.

Steelhead: November – April
Brown Trout & Salmon: May – September
Coho & King Salmon: September – October
Do I need my own fishing gear?
No – we provide everything you need, including rods, reels, bait, tackle, hooks, and sinkers. You’ll only need to bring personal items like rain gear, chest waders, high boots with felt or corkers, and a cooler for your lunch and catch.
How experienced is your fishing guide?
Real Fishy Guide Service is led by NYS Licensed Guide Nate Seyer (#3686), who has been fishing the Salmon River and Lake Ontario tributaries since the 1980s. Nate has been guiding professionally since 1998 and has decades of experience helping anglers of all skill levels reel in trophy catches.

How long are the fishing trips?
Trip lengths depend on the type of charter:

Steelhead fishing trips: 6–8 hours
Salmon fishing trips: 6 hours (morning or afternoon slots)
Lake Ontario charter boat trips: 6 hours
How many people can join a trip?
Our river fishing trips are typically set up for 1–2 anglers, but larger groups can be accommodated with notice. Our Lake Ontario charter boat is a 31-foot Tera that can host up to 6 passengers.
What does a typical fishing trip include?
Your guided trip includes:

All fishing gear (rods, reels, tackle, bait, hooks, sinkers)
Instruction on casting, trolling, float fishing, and retrieval techniques
Expert knowledge of the best fishing locations in Oswego, Pulaski, and Lake Ontario
A safe, fully insured experience tailored to your skill level

How much does a steelhead fishing trip cost?
Pricing for our steelhead trips is:

$325 for 1 person (6–8 hours)
$450 for 2 people (6–8 hours)
Groups of 3 or more – contact us for a custom quote
How much does a salmon fishing trip cost?
Salmon trips are $700 for 1–4 people (6 hours). For groups of 5–6 people, there is an additional fee of $150 per person.
Do I need to make a deposit?
Yes, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required to book your fishing trip. The remaining balance is due in full on the day of the trip.

What should I bring with me?
We recommend bringing:

Rain gear
Chest waders
High boots with felt soles or corkers
A cooler for food, drinks, and storing fish
A valid New York State fishing license
Do you take beginners on trips?
Absolutely! We welcome all experience levels. Our guide will help beginners learn the basics of fishing on the Salmon River or Lake Ontario, while also offering advanced tips for seasoned anglers looking to refine their techniques.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Weather conditions on the Salmon River and Lake Ontario can change quickly. We’ll work with you to adjust trip times or reschedule if necessary to ensure a safe and enjoyable fishing experience.
